Department Manager Job Description
Overview

A Department Manager oversees the functioning and productivity of a company division. Their role is setting strategic long and short-term departmental goals, motivating and inspiring staff to achieve these goals, and ensuring high levels of productivity are maintained. Their responsibilities are recruiting and dismissing staff, managing a departmental budget, recruiting, interviewing and orienting new staff members, monitoring and evaluating staff performance, communicating job expectations to staff, and conducting training and seminars for continued skills improvement.
