A Barista serves beverages such as coffee and tea.  Their role is preparing coffee or tea, packaging coffee blends, explaining menu items to customers, and ensuring that customers are comfortable and satisfied. <p dir="ltr">If you're thinking about becoming a server, first of all, it's a way to make really great lifelong friends. I cannot stress that enough. I think the social environment and social impact that the hospitality industry brings, no, nothing else out there.&nbsp;</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">Becoming a Server:</h2>
<p dir="ltr">Typically, if you are looking to become a server, it's not an entry-level restaurant position. Usually you would start out as a host or a hostess or a busser, and then work your way up. So the environment of a new restaurant opening though, is they're doing mass hiring. So when you're doing mass hiring, you're really, really focused on hiring, not only for ability and skill set, but personality. So if you have a shining personality and you wanna start serving without having to start off as a host or a hostess or a busser, that's a really great environment to do so.&nbsp;</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">Where This Path Can Lead:</h2>
<p dir="ltr">So currently hold a senior manager of global operations role. I started in 2006 as a new server and at a new restaurant opening. The next role is bartending. And so bartending for me was probably the most fun I've ever had ever job wise. I quickly became a trainer for that company. So I immediately started to get to travel. After doing a few domestic openings, the brand started to go globally.&nbsp;</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">Career Opportunity:&nbsp;</h2>
<p dir="ltr">So I had the opportunity to travel all over the world, which was a life-changing opportunity as well. I was able to go to places that I would never be able to go to on my own at that age.</p>

<p dir="ltr">One of the wonderful things about customer service is it really can be done anywhere. If you have a computer and you have internet connection you can support people and I really really love that flexibility not just for me but for my team.&nbsp;</p>

<p dir="ltr">Being amazing at customer service is absolutely paramount to being successful in this role and that's not enough. You have to really really be passionate about the people behind what you're doing whether those are customers or it's your team or it's folks within the rest of the organization.&nbsp;</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">Management Tip:</h2>
<p dir="ltr">As the manager it's your job to match your managerial style to what they need and that may mean you manage in two, three, twelve, fifteen different managerial styles but that's going to help number one create the best work experience for your team and number two that's going to make everything just run a little bit smoother.</p>

I think a college or a vocational program just gives you the opportunities and the teachers to help you learn how to do that and to have the opportunity to practice it.</p><p><br></p><h2>How to Start in This Role</h2><p><br></p><p>To get into this role, I would say have a strong portfolio. Whether the portfolio is actual client work or work that you've created on your own, like case studies or made-up brands, having design examples is key. It’s important for whoever's looking at your book—whatever prospective employer that might be—to see your design sense, your skill level, and what you excel at.</p><p><br></p><h2>Portfolio Tio</h2><p>One thing I wish I’d done more in my own portfolio is include numbers. For example, showing how an ad got a certain number of views or how a social post received a particular amount of interaction. Those numbers really tell the story people want to see. It’s not just about making great visuals but demonstrating performance.</p><p><br></p><h2>Pros and Cons</h2><p>Working professionally as an artist is a huge benefit. Some cons, however, include understanding that the work is for a client, which means it won’t always be what you personally envision. I feel privileged to have a full-time career as a designer. Salary varies based on location and the company. Tech companies, for example, often have bigger budgets compared to smaller ones.</p><p><br></p><h2>Graphic Designer Salary</h2><p>As a graphic designer, you can expect a wide range of salaries—anywhere from $50K to $70K, depending on the market. I started as an intern at a magazine, learned on the job, and then became a graphic designer. From there, I moved up to junior art director, art director, senior art director, and now associate creative director. Perhaps a creative director role is next.</p><p><br></p><h2>Career Advice</h2><p>The biggest piece of advice: don’t stay in one job too long. When opportunities arise, move around for both creative and financial growth. They say the best way to get a raise is to get a new job.</p><p><br></p><p>For inspiration, I need to get out and see things. It’s essential to put myself in a place to be inspired so I can do my best creative work. It’s easy to check the box and fulfill the job, but true creatives want to feel creatively fulfilled. <p dir="ltr">I see my patients from 45 minutes to an hour, so I really get to know them, know about their life and it's great to see somebody who comes to me with crutches, very able to walk, very able to move their knee and now is kind of like running a marathon, right? So, you really get to see the patient's progress over the course of time and you are instrumental in doing that.</p>

<p dir="ltr">You are mostly on your feet and you know you are close to the patient and you're moving their different body regions and you are showing them how to squat and how to learn so you have to be physically fit or at least know how to do those things or able to demonstrate those things.</p>

<p dir="ltr">I've been in this field for like over 12 years now and I own my practice. I have worked in a hospital, I have worked at Google as a PT so you know a corporate PT is a great job as well. I have worked with different dance schools doing injury prevention workshops, I have done ergonomic workshops, I have worked in different outpatient facilities in different parts of the US and different parts of the world.</p>

<h2 dir="ltr">Pros of Being a Physical Therapist</h2>
<p dir="ltr">I think it's very dynamic, diverse, and you'll never be bored. Physical therapists have very low rates of burnout. I think it's awesome.</p>
