Why I choose This Wellness Career
I had lots of different careers, but if I had known how fulfilling this career would be, I wish I had started it earlier. I am a wellness practitioner. Primary, I work in the quantum field of energy health care.
Homeopathy is my main thing, and I help release trauma, help people release trauma and get better. I took this job because I was headed to medical school, and I decided after working in the emergency room as a unit secretary for a while, that that's not the kind of medicine I wanted to practice. I wanted to do something a little more holistic that looked at the totality of what was going on with the person, whether what was going on in their life, all the combination of things that you could look at that would derange someone's health. And so I wanted a different fit for helping people.
Job Requirements
So the job requirements, first of all, is to have compassion for people and to love people. And I think that's the first requirement for the type of work that I do. I don't think everyone has to have a bachelor's, but I have a bachelor's, and most of the people that I know have bachelor's degrees. And then you do like a three or four year homeopathic training. My program was in San Francisco, but there's online programs all over the country.
My Average Workweek
Averaged work week is three to four days a week, telehealth, that means online. And then I do pop-up clinics going to different states and doing a clinic for four days where I go in, I treat a community, and then I continue following them, which that's when it comes back in my four or five days a week with follow-ups.
Pros and Cons
You get to see people's lives change for the better. I mean, that's the biggest pro because I see miraculous change in people's lives in getting better for the better. Their anxiety, depression, physical pains. I mean, I see all that happen right before my eyes. The cons is it's my addiction. I can't stop doing it. I can't stop, I mean, I'll do a clinic and I work maybe seven hours straight because I keep seeing people get better. And so the cons are you will get so deep into it, you kind of forget to take care of yourself.
How to Get Into This Field
So if you're interested in getting into this field, like I say, it's a matter of having compassion for people and wanting to help. And it doesn't matter, any background that you have is beneficial if you love people. So if you're already in the medical field, it's a great adjunct to whatever modalities you're currently working in. And if you're just switching careers, it's also a great way to really do something that you want fulfillment in and make a change in. And you know what? By helping others, you help yourself.
