Apartment Therapy was originally launched in 2001 by interior designer Maxwell Ryan (nicknamed “The Apartment Therapist”) as a weekly newsletter for clients. We officially became an independently-owned company in 2004, and since then Apartment Therapy Media has grown to become the only media group dedicated to life at home. We are committed to teaching our audience real-life solutions by giving them tools to create happy, healthy homes through our award-winning brands: Apartment Therapy, The Kitchn, Cubby, and Dorm Therapy. Together, our portfolio engages a monthly audience of 47 million users across platforms, while our dedicated team of over 140 professionals collaborates from our sunny New York City office and locations across the U.S. and around the globe.

Dorm Therapy, part of Apartment Therapy Media’s family of brands, is the ultimate “start here” resource for college students experiencing life on campus. We’re here to help you feel at home at school.

AT Media’s Content Special Projects team is looking for a Dorm Therapy Editorial Intern to join our dynamic team for summer 2025. We are seeking a proactive and passionate individual who, under the direction of the Special Projects Director and Special Projects Editor, will provide hands-on assistance with content production for Dorm Therapy and essential support for the Dorm Therapy team.

The Dorm Therapy Editorial Intern is responsible for contributing to Dorm Therapy’s student-oriented dorm decor, college life, organizing and cleaning, shopping, and food and recipes content on DormTherapy.com, ApartmentTherapy.com, and TheKitchn.com. They will work closely with the Content Special Projects team to execute Dorm Therapy’s editorial strategy by sourcing leads, pitching stories, writing articles, and helping with various content management tasks. The ideal candidate should have strong writing, reporting, and organizational skills, a finger on the pulse of pop culture and campus trends, an eagerness to collaborate, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Ideate and pitch multiple story ideas per week
  • Write and fact-check 3-5 articles per week, ranging from trending news stories to SEO-driven features
  • Source leads for additional content creation
  • Refresh archival SEO content, following best practices for optimization and editorial standards
  • Help create and build additional content, as needed
  • Attend Dorm Therapy team meetings
  • Help monitor and report on analytics

Requirements

  • Majoring in journalism, communications, or other relevant subject
  • Strong writing and fact-checking skills, including the ability to speak to college student readers like a friend
  • An astute awareness of internet trends, pop culture, and other topics related to our Dorm Therapy audience
  • Detail-oriented in writing, communication, and organization
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, and to adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information
  • Comfort working within technical systems/content management systems (CMS)

Estimated Timeline: Summer 2025 (3 months)

Commitment: $20/hour / 25 hours a week
