GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Working closely with the Principal Investigator and other study staff, the Clinical Research Assistant supports the research activities of the study team. Performs data gathering and data entry, provides administrative support and serves as a resource to the team.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or senior study staff, completes a range of responsibilities to support clinical research and study administration, including:
* Obtains, organizes and maintains information for use by study staff.
* Performs data entry in a timely and accurate manner.
* Maintains research files, forms and logs in paper and electronic format.
* Participates in meetings to learn about study requirements and clinical research protocols.
* Provides administrative assistance within the office to include answering the telephone, filing, photocopying and in the preparation of research grant applications, such as compiling study documentation and preparing materials for mailing.
* Assists principal investigator in manuscript preparation by gathering data, preparing charts, gathering reference and other information and distributing copies for review.
* Provides support to study staff as requested, such as to participate in the recruitment of patients for studies.
* May attend patient visits to act as a scribe.
* Conducts literature searches.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
* Knowledge of standard office skills and equipment
* Must have strong organizational skills with careful attention to details
* Able to follow directions and learn new tasks
* Must have interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Computer ability with data entry, spreadsheets and Outlook Office
* Appropriately understand, work with and maintain confidential information, including patient and medical data
* Familiarity with or ability to participate in the administration of clinical research protocols
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required
EXPERIENCE:
Some experience with office tasks preferably within a healthcare setting
