Middle Collegiate Church

Nursery Care Provider


Purpose: The Nursery Care Provider is a Contractor who staffs the Middle Church “Wee Care” program during Sunday worship celebrations and other programming as needed. Under the direct supervision of the Minister for Care and Congregational Life, the Nursery Care Provider is a part of our youth education team and is responsible for the care and safety of infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children. The Nursery Care Provider works in tandem with Middle Church staff, parents and guardians to support programs that bridge the vision of Middle Church to its youngest members.

Skills required: The Nursery Care Provider must have a minimum of three years' experience working with infants and children up to the age of five. They must love and respect children. Three references must be provided and passing a background check is essential. Fluency in English is a must and having some ability in Spanish and/or Mandarin is a plus. The Nursery Care Provider must be an excellent communicator, and have proven experience working in a multicultural, multiethnic community that is fully welcoming to all genders and sexualities. They must have imagination, patience and an even temperament to assist and care for children. This individual should have an outgoing and friendly personality and the ability to work calmly and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details:

  • Supervisor: Minister for Care and Congregational Life
  • Contractor Hours: Sundays, 5-8 hours at $22.50/hour
  • 9:00a-2:00p when there is one worship celebration
  • 9:00a to 5:00p when there are two worship celebrations

Collaborates closely with:

  • Director of Programs, Events & Community Engagement
  • Seminary Intern for Care

Responsibilities:

  • Attend Sunday morning worship production meetings and other meetings when appropriate
  • Review curriculum and prepare weekly lessons and activities for “Wee Care”/Nursery-age children
  • Greet parents/guardians as they arrive, only releasing children to the care of an approved contact.
  • Develop and maintain a structured experience for children
  • Build connections with parents and guardians, making sure that they have pertinent information and that all documentation for their child(ren) is collected
  • Collaborating with the Minister for Care and Congregational Life in building a fun, safe, learning environments for all children
  • Comply with and uphold all Middle Church safety protocols
  • Attend occasional training
  • Grow and develop our youngest members in partnership with the youth education team
  • Think strategically with the Minister for Care and Congregational Life about best practices and programs for infants, children, and families
  • Expected to check emails at a minimum of three days a week, and respond to requests in a timely manner, recognizing that time-sensitive requests will be communicated in multiple formats
  • Participate in other congregational life activities and projects as needed
  • Greet parents/guardians and children as they arrive, ensuring that everyone is properly signed in
  • Register children and parents and communicate contact information to database managers.
  • Receive brunch/snacks for Wee Care when delivered on cart and returns to the kitchen at the end of shift
  • Administer diaper changes and nap times when appropriate
  • Greet parents/guardians as they pick up their children, ensuring children are released only to approved guardians
  • Complete weekly report at the end of the day; submit and review it with supervisor before clocking out
